This work aims to update the studies on the evidence of the effectiveness of CBT in the treatment of alcoholism in adults. For that, an integrative review was carried out, using the SciELO, PsycINFO and BVS databases, of the last 5 years. Four outcome articles were identified and analyzed, which showed that the CBT psychotherapy modality was more effective than non-treatment and health education. The results were also positive regarding the maintenance of abstinence in the follow-up period for 6 to 12 months. It was concluded that CBT is effective in the treatment of alcoholism in adults with regard to the criteria of this research.
