The theme "Difficulty in accepting transient unsightly disturbances caused by the use of imiquimod in skin diseases" refers to the temporary aesthetic side effects experienced by patients during treatment with imiquimod for skin diseases. Imiquimod is a topical medication used to treat conditions such as genital warts, actinic keratosis, and superficial basal cell carcinoma. During treatment with imiquimod, patients may experience adverse skin effects such as erythema (redness), edema (swelling), erosions, crusting, and inflammatory reactions. These transient aesthetic reactions can negatively affect patients' self-esteem, quality of life and emotional well-being, causing anxiety, insecurity and psychosocial impact. The acceptance of these unsightly disorders can vary among patients and is influenced by factors such as age, gender, educational level and expectations regarding treatment. Health professionals play a crucial role in educating patients about expected side effects, offering emotional support and adopting individualized communication strategies. Complementary therapeutic interventions, such as psychological support, cognitive-behavioral therapy, support groups and relaxation techniques, can help reduce patients' anxiety and insecurity, promoting a more positive attitude towards treatment. The search for patient-centered strategies focused on improving quality of life is essential to ensure a successful and satisfactory therapeutic experience during treatment with imiquimod in cutaneous diseases.
