Syphilis is an infectious and contagious disease transmitted sexually and vertically. Its etiological agent is a spirochete bacterium that can bring periods of activity and latency, characterizing disseminated systemic involvement and may progress to more severe cases. In 2022, the Ministry of Health identified more than 7 thousand cases of syphilis in Goiás before the end of December. This high worries authorities and health professionals, who fear the impact on maternal and child health and the population as a whole. This scenario highlights the need to develop studies that aim to analyze the disease in its biological and social state, emphasizing the social impacts when affecting the lives of several people from Goiás. Therefore, the present study aims to analyze records of notified cases of syphilis in the population of Goiás from 2018 to 2022. It was concluded that acquired syphilis is a public health problem that requires attention, especially in the state of Goiás, considering that its comparison with the national average infers a higher incidence of cases. It is noteworthy that an early diagnosis has the ability to reduce the most severe manifestations of the disease, making it necessary for public health campaigns to reach society as a whole.
