The article aims to study the importance of Emotional Intelligence and how it influences the practice of higher education teachers. It discusses the foundations and theory of university teaching and pedagogy, as well as the theory concerning emotional intelligence. It analyzes the impacts of using or not using emotional management in the mentioned profession. The study gathers information and knowledge through qualitative exploratory bibliographic research using secondary sources. It also conducts quantitative research to critically analyze the collected information. The conclusion drawn is that emotional intelligence is of great relevance to the teaching profession and plays a crucial role in the teaching-learning process. The use or non-use of emotional intelligence by teachers can have positive or negative impacts on teaching and learning.
