The aim of a presente study was contribute to the debate on the relationship between freedom of expression and press rights, which are related but different concepts. Thus, a bibliographic survey was carried out on the themes and their legal systems. Press freedom refers to the right of journalists and the media to report and disseminate information without censorship or prohibited government interference. Fundamental right in democracies, which allows citizens to have access to motivated and relevant information on political, social and affectionate issues. The right of expression is an individual right that allows anyone to freely express their opinions, ideas and beliefs without fear of retaliation or repression. This includes not only freedom of verbal expression, but also freedom of artistic, religious and political expression. Both are important for the protection of human rights and for the functioning of democratic society, but freedom of the press is especially important for ensuring that information is available to the general public, while the right of expression is important for allowing individuals to express your opinions freely. The bibliographic research method was used to highlight the elements that help in the debate on freedom of expression and the right of the press.
