Abstract

Reflection on the violation of women's rights in the prison system is urgent and extremely important. Even today, it is possible to observe the terrible conditions that hundreds of women who are in prison live in Brazil. It is necessary to analyze these situations related to the female prison system, as well as the reality experienced by these women who are in prison, it is extremely important for the state to act from a new perspective, which needs to advance in relation to the recent insertion of the gender issue in the formulation of public policies. There is a huge challenge, that of transforming the rules to protect the rights of incarcerated women into practice within prisons. There must be an analysis of the structural and conjunctural dimensions involved in the current scenario of criminalization and imprisonment of women. Violations of their rights stem from several factors: structural problems since its foundation, overcrowding of cells, unhealthy conditions, among others. Therefore, these difficulties result in negative and unacceptable statistics about the female prison system. Analyze and understand the main causes and failures that lead to the violation of rights in the female prison system. Demonstrate the current scenario of the female prison system. Check the main factors that influence the violation of basic rights in the female prison system. Explain about the need for improvements in women's penitentiaries, aiming to protect their rights.
