OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to compare the effectiveness of radiofrequency ablation and conventional saphenectomy in the treatment of venous disease. The focus was to assess edema, reduction of disease severity measured by the Venous Clinical Severity Score (VCSS), and the impact on patients' quality of life using the VEINES QoL/Sym questionnaires. The research was conducted between January 2022 and June 2022 at a vascular surgery service in Cascavel, Paraná.METHODOLOGY: A total of 24 participants diagnosed with venous disease were included in the study. The group comprised 20 females and 4 males, ranging in age from 18 to 60 years. Of the participants, 54.2% underwent radiofrequency ablation, and 45.8% underwent conventional saphenectomy. Pre- and post-operative measurements were collected for analysis. VCSS scores were recorded to assess disease severity, and the VEINES QoL/Sym questionnaires were used to evaluate symptoms and patients' quality of life. Statistical analyses were performed to compare the results between the two procedures and determine if there were significant differences in the outcomes obtained.
