Patients admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) are described as serious or critical individuals, thus requiring intensive care, continuous monitoring, using technological equipment and a specialized multidisciplinary team. Due to the complexity and instability of the clinical picture of patients in the ICU, pharmacotherapy applied in this type of environment requires a combination of several prescribed drugs, thus being a favorable condition for drug interactions, toxic synergisms and possible iatrogenic events. Therefore, this work has the general objective of identifying the main drugs used during basic support procedures in general ICU. The results of the research allowed us to conclude that the ICU patient is more susceptible to problems related to drugs, therefore, the pharmacist has a fundamental role as a member of the multidisciplinary team in this sector. This professional allows the correct dispensing of medications during basic support, reducing the chances of errors and reducing patient mortality.
