: Objective: To discuss the advantages and risks of conventional or laparoscopic surgery techniques for reversing the Hartmann procedure. Methods: This is a qualitative, retrospective and cross-sectional study, carried out through an integrative literature review. The following databases were used: National Library of Medicine (PubMed) and Virtual Health Library (VHL). The descriptor applied was “Hartmann reversal”. The inclusion criterion was articles published in the last thirteen years (2010-2023), which had free full text, free full text articles, Clinical Trial, Randomized Controlled Trial, Review, Systematic Review, in English and Spanish. As exclusion criteria, articles that were not related to the proposed theme and duplicate articles. Results: Among the 8 selected articles, it was observed that most demonstrate that laparoscopic reversal is the technique of choice. Final considerations: Surgical reversal of the Hartmann procedure has benefits if performed using the videolaparoscopic technique, such as reducing mortality and postoperative morbidity. However, it is necessary that studies with a larger sample number be carried out for more reliable research results.
