Abstract

This case study was carried out on a property in Espigão do Oeste, Rondônia, with the objective of investigating the use of fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) as a method to increase the pregnancy rate during the breeding season. TAI involves the use of hormones to synchronize follicular growth, induce estrus and ovulation in breeding-ready cows, followed by artificial insemination at a predetermined time, without the need to observe estrus. The study seeks to analyze the effectiveness of artificial insemination in relation to the increase in the pregnancy rate, in addition to reviewing and describing important concepts, such as reproductive physiology, endocrine aspects and methods of synchronizing the estrous cycle. In addition, it presents data related to Brazilian livestock. Comparative tests were carried out with 200 cows divided into two groups that were in anestrus. These groups made it possible to observe an increase in the pregnancy rate when artificial insemination was used compared to natural mating. In the first group, the pregnancy rate was 77%, while in the second group it was 92.7%.
