LANDSCAPE QUALITY OF FREE SPACES IN AÇAIÂNDIA/MA: CASE STUDY OF PRAÇA BOA ESPERANÇA

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the landscape quality of a public open space in the municipality of Açailândia in Maranhão, the Praça da Boa Esperança. The methodology used for the development of this research was the post-occupancy evaluation for open spaces (APO), cadastral surveys of the area, application of questionnaires and mapping of technical reading of the study area. In addition, bibliographic surveys were carried out on the themes of landscape, public open spaces, squares and their typologies in order to contextualize the importance of these environments for society and their role in urban landscape quality. After conducting the research, it was possible to verify some problems from the technical point of view and from the user's point of view that made it possible to reflect on the use of APO for future revisions of projects and reforms of public squares.
