Extreme events such as floods have intensified, becoming more and more frequent, causing socioeconomic damage. The objective of this work is to contribute to advancing knowledge about the relationship between urban expansion in the municipality of Tucuruí and areas susceptible to flooding by the floods of the Tocantins River. This diagnosis can guide the planning and implementation of mitigating measures to avoid damage caused by flooding. As a methodological procedure, the application of geoprocessing techniques was used to identify areas susceptible to floods.
