Introduction: During our work journey, we healthcare professionals are exposed to numerous occupational risks and need precise interventions for prevention and control. Objective: This study aims to promote greater knowledge about prevention and management strategies regarding occupational accidents with sharps. Methods: The methodological approach was based on a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The population consisted of 7 representatives from the Sharps Committees of the Hospital de Clínicas de Uberlândia, totaling 50% of the sample. Results: Regulatory Standard 32 is extremely important for ensuring a safe work environment and protecting the rights of healthcare professionals. This type of multidisciplinary committee is essential within health services, as they work with the aim of eliminating or reducing accidents. Conclusions: This is a construction work, a gear, that requires support from the healthcare institution as a whole as well as from healthcare professionals.
