NOSSA SENHORA DA CONCEIÇÃO MUNICIPAL BAND: CHALLENGES AND ACHIEVEMENTS IN ITS TRAJECTORY

Abstract

This article aimed to investigate the history of the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Municipal Band of Campos Belos, Goiás, Brazil, its achievements, as well as the challenges it has faced in establishing itself within the artistic and cultural scene. A bibliographic and documentary review was conducted using both qualitative and quantitative approaches to the existing literature and records concerning the research subject. The results revealed a trajectory marked by numerous challenges and difficulties, highlighting positive practical actions as well as the indifference of public authorities in delicate situations. In this context, the recognition and incorporation of this intangible cultural heritage by society can be observed. The methodological procedures included semi-structured interviews with individuals involved since the band's establishment, questionnaires administered to its current members in order to understand the difficulties faced by the musicians, and participant observation during rehearsals and performances to gain insight into the modus operandi of its activities. The analyses and results presented demonstrate that, despite periods of progress and setbacks and having faced numerous difficulties, the band remains active, showing technical development and, consequently, receiving a certain degree of support from the municipal government. The conclusions reached made it possible to present recommendations aimed at improving the band's performance.
