This study analyses the challenges faced by Mathematics teachers in implementing contemporary trends in Mathematics teaching at secondary schools in Huíla Province, Angola. The research adopted a qualitative, descriptive and interpretative approach involving forty-four Mathematics teachers. Data were collected through a questionnaire administered via Google Forms and analysed using the content analysis technique. The findings reveal that teachers recognize the relevance of methodologies such as problem-solving, mathematical modelling, collaborative learning and the integration of digital technologies for the development of students’ mathematical thinking. However, the implementation of these approaches remains limited due to insufficient continuous teacher training, lack of teaching resources, overcrowded classrooms and curriculum pressure. The study concludes that improving the quality of Mathematics teaching requires investment in teacher professional development, strengthening institutional conditions and promoting educational policies that support pedagogical innovation.
