Holistic education has been discussed as an educational approach focused on the integral development of human beings, considering cognitive, emotional, social, ethical, and cultural dimensions in the teaching and learning process. This study aimed to analyze the role of holistic education in teacher training and the challenges related to its implementation in the contemporary educational context. This is an integrative literature review with a qualitative and descriptive approach, conducted in the Google Scholar, SciELO, ERIC, and CAPES databases using descriptors related to holistic education and teacher training. The analyzed studies showed that holistic education favors more humanized, interdisciplinary, and meaningful pedagogical practices. Challenges related to curricular fragmentation, technicist training, structural inequalities, and limitations in teacher education were also identified. The literature highlights the need to strengthen integrative educational practices focused on integral human development.
