CIRCULAR ECONOMY IN PRODUCTION ENGINEERING EDUCATION: ALIGNING ACADEMIC TRAINING WITH MARKET DEMANDS

Abstract

The rise of the circular economy in the manufacturing sector has created demand for professionals with expertise in sustainability and operational circularity. This article proposes ways to integrate these themes into the training of Brazilian production engineers. Through a structured consultation (Delphi method) with academics and course managers, the subjects most likely to align with the theme were identified, with particular emphasis on Production Management. The results reinforce the view that the quality of training depends on an integrative approach by lecturers and closer alignment between the university environment and the real demands of businesses.
