NURSING APPROACH IN THE TREATMENT OF PATIENTS WITH STROKE: A SCOPING REVIEW

Abstract

This article aims to map the main approaches, challenges, and impacts of nursing practice in the treatment of patients with stroke. This is a scoping review, with searches conducted in the SciELO, LILACS, and PubMed databases, resulting in 403 articles initially identified. After screening and applying the eligibility criteria, 16 studies were included and analyzed. The results indicated that nursing plays a fundamental role in all phases of care for stroke patients, from emergency care to rehabilitation, highlighting clinical monitoring, prevention of complications, encouragement of early mobility, emotional and communication support, as well as support for the family. The analysis revealed challenges such as workload, limited resources, and difficulties in adherence to treatment, in addition to the increasing adoption of technologies such as telerehabilitation and artificial intelligence, still restricted by the lack of standardization and accessibility. It is concluded that nursing practice is essential to promote humanized, effective, and multidisciplinary care for patients with stroke. However, there is a gap in the national scientific literature on the subject, which highlights the need to expand research that values ​​and strengthens the role of the nurse in this process.
