DEONTOLOGY IN DIGITAL DENTISTRY: ETHICS IN THE USE OF ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES

Abstract

This literature review article addresses the impact that the implementation of digital technologies has on modern dentistry, with an emphasis on the use of intraoral scanners, 3D printers, and digital information systems. The study reveals that such technologies have transformed the way treatments are planned and executed, making them more precise, comfortable, and efficient. However, the adoption of these tools also raises security and ethical concerns, particularly regarding the storage of sensitive data and patient privacy. This literature research also highlights the importance of quality professional training and the implementation of cybersecurity policies to mitigate risks associated with the use of electronic health records and the integration with tele-dentistry platforms. Despite the challenges, such as the need for technological infrastructure and high costs, digital technologies demonstrate the potential to make dentistry more advanced, personalized, accessible, and trustworthy, provided they are combined with ethical information management and the conscious use of available resources.
