EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PROFILE OF EXOGENOUS POISONING IN CERES – GO FROM 2008 TO 2017

Abstract

Exogenous intoxication occurs when the individual comes into contact with a substance that impairs body homeostasis. The main intoxicants found are medicines, pesticides, rodenticides, household cleaning chemicals, among others. Intoxication by these agents can contribute to the emergence of some health problem in the population. In Brazil, the government classifies exogenous intoxication as a disease or aggravation of compulsory notification. Objectives: To investigate the epidemiological profile of exogenous intoxications in the city of Ceres-GO. Method: This is a retrospective study, with a quantitative approach to document analysis, through the collection of intoxication data to be carried out at SINAN Net Brasil, between the years 2008 and 2017. The tabulation and analysis of the data will be carried out using of a spreadsheet, applying percentage test. Results: 537 cases were found with a peak of notifications from 2011 to 2013, 35.8% of the cases occurred with residents of Ceres. Females were 16% more affected by intoxications than males. And the age group with the highest number of cases comprised the age of 15 to 49 years. The most expressive circumstance was the suicide attempt (54%) and medication was the most used agent was medication 47%. In the analysis of schooling, the field most filled in the form was “Ignored/white”44.32%. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop public policies to prevent suicides and promote the rational use of medicines. And an awareness campaign to fill out the notification form aimed at the responsible health professional.
