FULL-TIME SCHOOLING: CHALLENGES AND IMPACTS ON LEARNING

This study analyzes the foundations, public policies, implementation challenges, and impacts of full-time schooling on the learning of Brazilian students. It seeks to understand the conditions under which an extended school day contributes to educational quality and comprehensive student development. A qualitative and descriptive bibliographic study was conducted using Brazilian publications issued between 2022 and 2025, as well as fundamental legislation related to the subject. The descriptors “comprehensive education,” “full-time school,” “learning,” “educational public policies,” and “extended school day” were adopted. Articles, books, and legal regulations with identified authorship, verifiable access, and a direct connection to the research topic were included. Duplicate publications, texts without identified authorship, foreign studies, and materials unrelated to the research problem were excluded. The results indicate that an extended school day can improve academic performance, school attendance, and students’ social and emotional development. consistent funding, inclusive practices, democratic management, and professional appreciation.
