In 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. Considering this period, this study provides an overview of musculoskeletal disorder treatments in primary care within the northeastern region, highlighting gender differences. It is a descriptive study conducted through data extraction from the Health Information System for Primary Care (SISAB) between 2020 and 2023. For categorization, the International Classification of Primary Care – 2nd Edition (ICPC-2) from the Wonca International Classification Committee (WICC) was used. Data analysis revealed a significantly higher number of consultations for women concerning four specific complaints: lower back signs/symptoms (L3), muscle pain (L18), knee signs/symptoms (L15), and shoulder signs/symptoms (L08). The probable causes of these conditions and the differences between men and women were discussed. The article highlights a challenging scenario, such as an approximately 181.88% increase in the number of complaints, underscoring the need for approaches that ensure equitable access to healthcare during crises, aiming for improved service quality and a reduction in gender disparities.
