Abstract

The Wildlife Screening Center of Espírito Santo (CETAS/ES) plays a crucial role in the management of wildlife seized, rescued, collected, or voluntarily surrendered by the public. This article analyzes historical data on animal entries between 2011 and 2024, highlighting trends, challenges, and implications for public conservation policies. The research uses a documentary approach, exploring consolidated spreadsheets from CETAS/ES and technical literature on management and animal welfare. The results demonstrate significant fluctuations in annual entries, reaching peaks in 2020 and 2024, revealing increased anthropogenic pressure and demand for rehabilitation infrastructure. The role of CETAS as a strategic point in federal environmental policy, its interface with enforcement, environmental education, and wildlife management is discussed. It concludes that improving protocols, raising social awareness, and fostering inter-institutional integration are essential for mitigating impacts and conserving native species in Espírito Santo.
