Keywords:

The book "Obstetrics in Medical Practice: Diagnosis, Conduct, and Discussions" arose from the need to offer technical, objective, and up-to-date material focused on addressing the most common situations in daily clinical practice and women's care. Using accessible yet scientifically grounded language, this book brings together central themes of obstetrics, presenting them in a way that applies to the realities of health services, with a focus on clinical decision-making.
The main objective of this publication is to consolidate practical knowledge, offering the reader theoretical support to assist in the safe and efficient management of gynecological cases. With this content, we aim to facilitate the integration of academic theory and practical experience, valuing a patient-centered approach, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice.
The target audience for this book includes medical students, physicians in training, residents, and other healthcare professionals interested in deepening their expertise in women's health. The selection of topics reflects a technical-scientific curation focused on the main challenges faced in outpatient and inpatient gynecological care. Each chapter addresses a common clinical situation or one of epidemiological relevance, addressing diagnostic aspects, initial management, and recommended approaches.
The scientific guidance for the entire work was provided by Dr. Winnye Marques Ferreira, a physician who graduated from the Tocantinense President Antônio Carlos Institute in 2022 and is currently a resident in Gynecology and Obstetrics at Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Passos, Minas Gerais, with a scheduled completion date of 2026. Her practical experience in the field, combined with her commitment to quality medical training, ensured technical consistency and alignment with the realities of healthcare services, in addition to promoting the academic development of the project participants.
Each chapter featured contributions from three co-authors, medical students and recently graduated physicians, who actively participated in the development of the texts under the direct supervision of their advisor. This collaboration fostered the exchange of experiences and scientific training, without compromising the technical rigor and consistency of the content presented.
The chapter structure was standardized to provide a fluid reading experience, with objective and applied language, allowing the reader to understand the main clinical aspects and make decisions based on medical reasoning and patient-centered care. At the end of each chapter, updated references are presented, predominantly from Brazilian literature.
We believe this work will be a valuable ally in the process of learning, updating, and safe practice in women's healthcare. We wish you an excellent read and hope this material contributes to an increasingly ethical, technical, and humane medical practice.
