This study analyzes public policies for the promotion of gender equality in the municipality of Dianópolis/TO, using the targets of Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda as a reference. The choice of topic stems from the recognition of local challenges in implementing actions that ensure gender representation and equity. A qualitative and exploratory approach was adopted, through direct observation in the Executive and Legislative branches, as well as the analysis of municipal legislation, regulations, and guidelines, including the articulation of these policies with state and federal levels. The results indicate a lack of specific policies, insufficient human and financial resources, and low institutional coordination, although isolated initiatives aimed at promoting rights were identified. The study concludes that strengthening social participation, ensuring adequate funding, and raising awareness among institutional actors are essential to fulfill the commitments made, reinforcing the importance of aligning global goals with the local reality.
