Abstract

Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) has become a crucial tool in the initial assessment of patients with undifferentiated shock in the emergency room. This approach allows for quick, non-invasive exams, providing immediate data on cardiac function, volume status, and the presence of potential causes of shock such as pericardial tamponade, hemorrhage, and pulmonary complications. The use of POCUS enables faster and more targeted diagnoses, optimizing decision-making and clinical management, ultimately resulting in a positive impact on patient survival. This work addresses the importance of bedside ultrasound, with an emphasis on rapid assessment protocols such as RUSH, and the benefits of this practice in emergency care. The widespread adoption of this technology represents a significant innovation in emergency medicine, enhancing the effectiveness of critical patient treatment.
