This article analyzes the application of Law No. 11.645/2008 in municipal schools in Pariconha/AL, based on the perception of elementary school teachers. The research, which used a qualitative and quantitative approach, used questionnaires administered to teachers, pedagogical coordinators, and school administrators, aiming to understand the knowledge and practices related to the teaching of Afro-Brazilian and indigenous history and culture. The results indicate that most participants were unfamiliar with the legislation, that there is no municipal regulation, and that there is a lack of continuing education focused on the topic. The scarcity of specific teaching materials and the failure to adapt Political-Pedagogical Projects to the legislation were also identified. These factors compromise the effectiveness of anti-racist education, revealing the need for public policies that promote teacher training and institutional strengthening to value ethnic-racial diversity. The study reinforces the urgency of coordinated actions that ensure the full implementation of Law No. 11.645/2008.
