Caries is a multifactorial and widespread disease in most Brazilian regions, being significant in third childhood. Since the first permanent molar appears from the age of six, it is one of the most important teeth for chewing and with a greater risk of cavities than other teeth, either due to its location, or due to its difficulty in brushing, or in other words, due to lack of access to adequate dental treatments. Therefore, this work aims to carry out an exploratory analysis on the prevalence of cavities in permanent molars in children aged 7 to 10 years, based on scientific evidence obtained through searches in databases such as PubMed, SciELO and VHL. For a more comprehensive understanding of the problem, data collection will be conducted that examines factors such as the level of oral hygiene and parents' education. Through this approach, we intend to better understand the conditions that favor the emergence and development of caries lesions in permanent molars.
