UROLITHIASIS IN DOGS: CASE STUDY

Abstract

Canine urolithiasis is a pathology that consists of the development of polycrystalline and, occasionally, non-crystalline concretions in the interior of the urinary tract, called uroliths. These formations can occur due to several factors, both intrinsic and extrinsic to the individual's body, such as the pH of the urine or the animal's diet. The primary objective of the present work is to present the different uroliths and the surgical method for removing them. The methodology will involve bibliographic research found on Google Scholar platforms and books made available by Faculdade Serra Dourada, dated between the years 1996 and 2023, addressing a clinical case study obtained during a routine internship in a small animal clinic. Urinary problems are common in the clinical routine of small animals, and they are often referred for surgery. It is possible to note that invaginating sutures are essential to ensure greater patient safety and to understand the different types of uroliths.
