Caring for cancer patients can involve more invasive measures that make patients more vulnerable both to the occurrence of errors and adverse health events and to the worsening of their quality of life. In this context, this article aimed to know and outline a profile of national and international scientific productions covering the theme of cancer patient safety, as well as to discuss the aspects addressed. This was a study with a qualitative approach and descriptive nature, using a literature review on the safety of cancer patients as a method, between the years 2018 and 2023. The automatic search process, adding all the bases, allowed the identification of 60 articles and after all exclusions, 5 articles remained that were used in this study. The characteristics of the analyzed studies were presented and discussed according to the following categories: medication errors, use of technologies as adjuvants, satisfaction and involvement of family members, barriers and safety facilitators. Studying/researching about patient safety favors the identification of risk factors, facilitators and barriers, in addition to allowing a survey of the positive and negative points that are relevant in the work routine with the objective of avoiding the occurrence of unwanted events and the possession of this knowledge favors the planning and implementation of effective actions.
