Medicines are used for therapeutic purposes in a preventive and curative way. Side effects are expected after using a drug, as they cause physiological and biological changes through its mechanism. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are the most prescribed and sold class of drugs in the world. They are mainly used to treat pain resulting from the inflammatory process. The use of these drugs also brings adverse reactions, including hematological changes caused by their use. The actions of anti-inflammatory drugs on the hematopoietic system include leukopenia, hemolytic and aplastic anemia, as in the case of fenamates and dipyrone, which are simultaneous to generate agranulocytosis, as well as ibuprofen can cause thrombocytopenia as an adverse effect.
