Abstract

Emergency contraception, also known as the morning after pill, is the therapy used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected or inadequately protected sexual intercourse. The most used is 0.75mg and 1.5mg levonorgestrel, due to its ease of access. Emergency contraception has been used indiscriminately, mainly by the young population. Pharmaceutical attention is fundamental when dispensing emergency contraceptives, so that the woman can use them correctly, thus eliminating the chance of a possible pregnancy.
