This article shows how Pharmaceutical Assistance is inserted within the Unified Health System (SUS). Showing its importance and promoting broad social inclusion, equality in care and the globalization of health actions and services. A technological innovation was incorporated into the SUS in 2009, an information system for the Pharmaceutical Assistance of the Unified Health System called Hórus. With the aim of qualifying, monitoring and evaluating the actions of Pharmaceutical Assistance in the country and contributing to the planning of services. In the three decades of the SUS, advances and regressions are associated considering the national complexity and its changes. The pharmacist's activities were evaluated in relation to the organization of the service, improving medical prescription and elaborating guidelines in clinical pharmaceutical services. The growth in population access to the SUS required changes in drug distribution, increasing coverage and minimizing costs.
