Abstract

Several can be the causes of burns. These lesions cause cell damage and death, generating a systemic endocrine-metabolic response, which can progress to hypovolemic shock. Therefore, water replacement is essential. The objective of this study was to elucidate what there are volume replacement techniques in burn patients. In this integrative review, 8 studies made up the analysis, and Pakland's formula was questioned regarding its likelihood. The hypervolemic state can be as harmful as hypovolemia for these patients, such as death due to respiratory system disorders. Currently, it is recommended that the initial volume therapy process be carried out according to the guidelines of the latest ATLS update: 2mL x Weight x Burned Body Surface.
