LEGAL ANALYSIS OF GENDER REASSIGNMENT IN ADOLESCENTS, WITH A VIEW TO THE DIGNITY OF THE HUMAN PERSON

Abstract

This article sought to analyze gender reassignment in adolescents from a legal perspective, with emphasis on the protection of human dignity. The methodology used consisted of a systematic review of the literature, focusing on articles and studies that address the issue of gender reassignment in adolescents from a legal point of view and the protection of human dignity. The results obtained indicate that gender reassignment in adolescents is a complex and controversial issue, which involves ethical, legal and social issues. However, it is possible to observe a growing trend in the acceptance of gender reassignment in adolescents, based on the protection of human dignity and the guarantee of fundamental rights. It is concluded that gender reassignment in adolescents must be treated with care and attention, always guaranteeing the protection of human dignity and the observance of fundamental rights. The role of the State and civil society is crucial in this process, and a multidisciplinary approach involving health professionals, social workers and lawyers must be ensured.
