Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a complication that affects the metabolism of the pregnant woman, resulting in glucose intolerance and consequent hyperglycemia, caused by maternal insulin insufficiency. What is always indicated as a form of treatment are routine exams, physical activities, the intake of medications guided by the doctor and diets, as they are capable of controlling blood glucose. It is important that the health professional knows how to guide the pregnant woman so that she carefully follows all the guidelines given by the obstetrician in order to avoid the development of the disease and/or keep the disease under control during the gestational period. The pharmacist is of great importance, as it is up to him to guide how to carry out the treatment correctly.
