Abstract

This article aims to present the best patient care practices in anterior cruciate ligament surgery. The methodology used was a systematic review of the literature, with a search in databases such as PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science. Studies that addressed preoperative evaluation, assistance during surgery, postoperative care, postoperative complications and surgery results were selected. The preoperative evaluation included the identification of risk factors and the performance of physical and laboratory examinations. During surgery, it is essential to ensure good analgesia and monitoring, in addition to accurate and safe surgical techniques. Postoperative care should include pain control measures, physical therapy, and guidance to avoid complications. The most common postoperative complications include infection, hemorrhage, peroneal nerve injury and ligament re-rupture. It is important to identify any signs of complications early and take the necessary measures to prevent or treat them. The results of anterior cruciate ligament surgery are generally good, with a high success rate regarding recovery of knee function. However, recovery time may vary according to the patient and the type of physical activity he intends to perform. In conclusion, patient care in anterior cruciate ligament surgery should be based on good practices, with careful preoperative assessment, assistance during surgery with accurate techniques, and adequate postoperative care. Early identification and treatment of complications is critical to ensure the best possible outcomes.
