Abstract

Puberty is defined by sexual maturity, when reproduction hormones are released and females are able to generate cubs. Unfortunately, some reproductive pathologies can arise through dysfunctions of the reproductive system, mostly in female dogs. These conditions are of particular importance in veterinary clinical routine, the diagnosis and prevention of such diseases must be accurate to maintain the well-being and health of these animals during their lifetime. As such, the present study reports an episode of vaginal hyperplasia in a mixed breed female dog, one year and three months old, in which the owner observed an edematous mass with a normal coloration protruding from the animal´s vulva. The diagnosis was made by anamnesis and the recommended treatment was ovariohysterectomy (OH). After the procedure, the patient presented complete recovery of the clinical condition.
