The security sector is an important part of the Brazilian pharmaceutical market. However, the quality of products offered by companies is much discussed, and the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) has expressed concern about authorized products, facilitating public consultation on the subject and increasing the rigor of specific legislation. Local pharmacies thus play an important role in the context of the national drug policy, which aims to ensure the promotion of rational use and access to essential drugs. Therefore, taking measures to verify the quality of medicines should be a constant concern for consumers and official regulatory bodies, especially for compounding pharmacies, as their quality control differs from medicines produced on an industrial scale. According to the legislation, pharmacies are responsible for the quality of the local government preparations that they process, store, distribute and transport, and monitoring and control of the entire process is considered essential. Since the quality control tests described in the Pharmacopoeia (sensory properties, solubility, hydrogen potential (pH), weight, volume, melting point, density, evaluation of the manufacturer or supplier analysis report) are the basis of the process.
