Abstract

Mental health is a subject constantly explored in cinematographic works. The narratives dramatized on movie screens or streaming apps are sometimes impactful, and their production is based on themes related to social issues. In this perspective, the present study aims to provide a discussion on the topic of suicide, through an analysis of the series “Tomorow”, available on Netflix. This is a documentary research, with a qualitative approach, of a descriptive and exploratory nature. The drama approaches sensitive topics such as bullying, prejudice and suicide with caution and delicacy, mixing reality with fantasy, based on the experience of four individuals in a state of mental suffering, presenting the motivations that make them yearn to commit suicide. Despite the focus on sensitive topics, the series also addresses themes about friendship and hope, in order to sensitize viewers about the importance of empathic and supportive attitudes in the face of certain problems. It is noteworthy that works like this, promote awareness in the community about various themes, allowing a new look at the cause, as well as reflection on choices, forms of action and assistance to people with mental suffering.
