Abstract

The evolution of health over time has produced the need to improve and update the knowledge of health workers in general and continuing education in health is a valuable tool to enhance and transform the knowledge and practice of health professionals; in this vein, for professionals who work in the vaccine room (VS) due to the emergence of new diseases and epidemics such as Covid-19 and others, the training of these workers is a decisive tool for control, prevention, eradication and monitoring of immunopreventable diseases, and effectiveness of services provided to the population.  This cross-sectional quali-quantitative, descriptive, exploratory study presents a reflection about the activities of the SV's of the Basic Health Units (BHU) of Maceió, aiming to investigate the training / continuing education of technicians and nurses, the application in the activities performed in the SV's of the city of Maceió and the reflection on user service. The non-probabilistic sample was composed of (03) nurses and (09) nursing technicians, the inclusion criteria were to be employed and work in the SV, as instruments of evaluation and data analysis, we used the semi-structured interview, and content analysis. Results: In this study it was possible to identify that the employees of the SV's investigated are lacking continuing education courses. Health education, effective supervision, and continued training of workers are important tools to ensure the quality of care, by developing new skills and acquisition of competencies, since it is a sector in great demand by the population; therefore, the activities of the VS should be organized in order to contribute to the maintenance and quality of services provided and it is up to the managers to organize the sector, qualify and update the professionals by enhancing their technical and theoretical skills for a result of efficiency and better care to the user of the VS.
