Inventory management is studied using the barcode. The objective of this work is to evaluate, through a case study, the inventory management of an aluminum artifacts company at a time when it implements the barcode and to describe the opinion of employees on the importance of inventory management as well as of the barcode in this context. This is a case study with the purpose of describing the step by step of the barcode implementation project in a company that has forty-two (42) years of tradition in the production of high-quality aluminum pans, meeting the market throughout the national territory and in countries in South America, accompanied by an opinion survey with professionals who work in companies that also face problems with inventory management. The results showed that the implementation of the bar code in the studied company is in progress, with all the products cataloged, lacking the implementation of the network information system to complete the process. Survey participants understand the importance of good inventory management in the same way they look favorably on management at the company they work for. It was concluded that the implementation of the bar code foresees a change of culture in the company, as there are changes to the inventory control, as it abandons errors and rework problems and that workers from different companies, for the most part, understand that inventory is important as well as its management.
