The purpose of this article is to present the work Identity of the Polish thinker Zygmunt Bauman. His reflection is part of the critical analysis of the emptying of lasting references in contemporary society, endorsed according to the thinker by the abandonment of the welfare state, leaving citizens delivered to ephemeral experiences of belonging. The text's reason for being lies in the evaluative process of the Curricular Component Values and Education in the Graduate Program in Education at the Catholic University of Petrópolis, its pertinence and reflective effervescence. To do so, we will expand the reflection on the emptying of meaning through the disenchantment of the world in Peter Berger and the urgent reconstruction of culture through the fundamental rights of the human person in Vera Werneck. Our expectation is that the reader can understand the challenges of life in society as a permanent construction of meaning and that we value the educational space as necessary condition for rescuing the only reality that permeates life and relationships: the human condition.
