The present study is a literature review of the narrative type, proposing to carry out a survey on how population aging and demographic transition have been impacting the labor market. Population aging is a diverse process due to socioeconomic inequalities and specificities of each place and a collective challenge with implications for all sectors of society. Considering this context and the trend towards an increase in the elderly workforce, companies identify the need for an intergenerational work environment to meet the demands. Also, it is necessary to structure social security and care policies, guaranteeing the quality of life of the elderly. In Brazil, there are several government and civil society initiatives aimed at working on the issue. In the present study, we identified 18 initiatives. Thus, we conclude that Brazil, through its organizations, needs to work towards raising awareness about the stigmas of ageism and encourage intergenerational work at all levels of work.
