Abstract

Introduction: Breastfeeding has its benefits for the development of the infant, it helps a lot on the immune system, preventing infections, diarrhea and products that can cause allergy. Objective: In view of the above, the study aimed to describe the importance of exclusive breastfeeding until the baby's sixth month of life. Materials and Methods: This is a literature review research where searches were carried out in the US National Library (Pubmed) databases, as well as a bibliographic verification in the scientific literature, from the selection of works published in journals and scientific articles and collection in databases, Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo); Latin American Literature in Sciences of Health (Lilacs) from 2017 to 2022. For the preparation of this article, bibliographic research was used, in view of the topic addressed Benefits of exclusive breastfeeding up to six months. Result: The importance of early initiation of maternal breastfeeding has been highlighted again in recent years.The main data indicate that early breastfeeding can lead to a considerable reduction in neonatal mortality Conclusion: In the present work, it was reported about the importance of breastfeeding, which is a right of every newborn (NB).
