PSYCHOLOGY IN ORGANIZATIONS: STRESS AND STRESS MANAGEMENT IN WORKERS

INTRODUCTION: The phenomenon of stress is well known by workers in the workplace, given that the work environment is identified as one of the main causes of stress and several consequences can occur in the subject's biopsychosocial spheres. In view of this, it is the responsibility of the psychologist of organizations to outline coping and management strategies to manage stress. OBJECTIVE: To describe and discuss the importance of psychology in organizations and the role of psychologists in the management of stress in workers. METHODOLOGY: Based on bibliographic, descriptive and exploratory research. The materials used were books, scientific articles, dissertations and journals available in the databases of Scielo, PePsic, BvSaúde, CAPES journals. RESULTS: It was evident that the intervention of psychologists in organizations has met classic demands referring to the processes of people management, recruitment, selection and training. The role and practice of the psychologist cover quality of life, health and well-being at work; it was found that stress is present in organizations; Stress causes, chronic tension, headache, feeling of exhaustion, chest pressure, cold extremities; anxiety, fear, social isolation, appetite fluctuation, sexual impotence. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: It is concluded that stress management uses coping techniques and strategies and is directed to external and internal stressing events, focusing on the problem and emotion. By directing attention to the worker as a complete being with his social, psychological and biological facets, we realize that work occupies a very important place in his life. It is not only configured by the source of income and professional fulfillment, but by personal satisfaction in the affective and emotional field, when this does not occur, it becomes a stressor in the work environment. Thus, the lack of a psychologist in the work environment causes an embezzlement in relation to mental health and management of work stress.
