The writing of the text belongs to Rodrigo Duarte. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the Universität Gesamthochschule Kassel, Germany. He is a professor at the Department of Philosophy at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). He published, among others, The autonomous beauty – Classical Texts of Aesthetics and Cultural Industry: an introduction. The text is short and not so simple to read. It requires knowledge of some concepts of philosophy and a little knowledge of the history and history of philosophy. The work is divided into five parts. The first part received the title of “Suspicion and the appreciation of art and sensorial beauty”; the second “From the beauty of material things to aesthetics”; the third “From disinterested pleasure to the end of art”; how much part “From the end of art to the end of art history” and, finally, a conclusion. These parts will bring an outline of the conceptions of art through history, from classical antiquity to contemporary times: referring us to Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus, Saint Augustine, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Kant, Hegel, Nietzsche, Heidegger, Adorno, with a quick commentary on Walter Benjamin's text “The work of art in the age of its technical reproducibility” and, finally, to Arthur Danto.
