EPIDEMIOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF HEPATITIS A IN ALAGOAS STATE

Abstract

Hepatitis A, a disease caused by the infection of the HAV virus, leads to inflation and functional deficit in the liver, which can remain asymptomatic for a period of time, being more prevalent in less developed countries. In Brazil, the prevalence of this public health problem is highlighted in the North and Northeast regions. The objective of this study was to research the epidemiological picture of hepatitis A in the state of Alagoas, study the implications caused by the virus that causes hepatitis A, identify HAV prevention maneuvers and relate the epidemiological picture in question with the context in which the Brazil is inserted. The present work is characterized as a theoretical study and exploratory bibliographical research, which used descriptive literature developed with scientific production indexed in electronic databases such as SciElo and records of the State Health Plan - PES, which focus on the epidemiological aspects of hepatitis A in the state of Alagoas. The specific time frame covered the period between 2002 and 2020. Based on the study of pre-selected texts, it was concluded that the last decades were of remarkable achievements with regard to the prevention and control of hepatitis in our country and for Consequently, hepatitis A currently affects a remarkably low number of people in the State of Alagoas.
