The study called Profile of the Teacher to Act in the 21st Century traces a brief path taken in teacher training in Brazil. It shows, through a retrospective legal historical analysis, the pedagogical space dependent on educational legislation, and the processes of teacher training. It seeks to establish links with the historical-political and social context for a greater understanding of the facts and to understand the formation of this professional in society. I also base my study on the formation of reflective professionals, who are in accordance with the needs of man to act in society. I consider that this theme has relevance in the political and educational framework in Brazil, as it has been verified that there will be no quality teaching, no educational reforms, nor pedagogical innovations that replace adequate teacher training. I conclude that man is a social being that manifests itself in the world, with other men, with nature, in society, in constant search, in constant learning, which is not static, which transforms the world and is transformed from its interrelationships.
