SCHOOL CURRICULUM, CULTURAL DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION: PATHWAYS TO PROMOTING EDUCATIONAL EQUITY

Abstract

Cultural diversity and inclusion within the school curriculum are fundamental elements in building an education system that is democratic, equitable, and committed to respecting differences. This article aims to analyze the importance of integrating cultural diversity and inclusive practices into the school curriculum, highlighting their contribution to civic development and the promotion of equal opportunities within the educational environment. The study is qualitative in nature and was conducted through a literature review based on the analysis of books, scientific articles, official documents, and specialized educational websites. The discussion demonstrates that valuing diversity in the curriculum fosters inclusion, strengthens efforts to combat discriminatory practices, and contributes to the development of a school culture grounded in respect, equity, and human rights. It concludes that implementing inclusive pedagogical practices and a curriculum sensitive to diverse sociocultural realities serves as a vital tool for the holistic development of students, transforming the school into a space for social interaction, participation, and transformation.
